Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) & Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for Science & Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 AUG 2022 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) established a research collaboration to support the development of the first HYBRID SEA THERMAL ENERGY (H-OTEC) rig in the world which will be located at UPM's International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (I-AQUAS).

This collaboration between UPM and UTM is to accelerate the goal towards Carbon Net-Zero, a low-carbon society and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Southeast Asia and particularly in Malaysia as a result of support and funding from the Japanese International Collaboration Agency (JICA), Japan Science & Technology (JST) and matching funds by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia (KPT).
