PORT DICKSON, March 22 - The International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (I-AQUAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has conducted a webinar titled 'PENCER'. This is the second webinar of the Webinar Distinguished Lecture Series which cover issues and discoveries related to the effects of natural disasters on the coastal environment as well as the recoveries.
The first speaker is Prof. Dr. Tomohiko Kawamura, a prominent researcher from the University of Tokyo, who are directly involved in studying the effects of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan 10 year ago. Meanwhile, the second speaker is the Environmental Control Officer from Lembaga Urus Air Selangor, Mr. Mohd Nazifi Nawawi, who are directly involved in dealing with the effects of natural disasters that hit Malaysia.
Dr. Ferdaus Mohamat Yusuff, our Research Associate, is the moderator of the webinar. There are two topics discussed during the webinar which are 'The effects of earthquake and tsunami on ecosystems and recovery from the damage' and 'Impact of natural disasters on water supply in Selangor and recovery strategies'.
