PORT DICKSON, 31 May 2025 – A total of 80 participants took part in the Coastal Kayak Expedition Programme held in conjunction with the 77th Birthday Celebration of His Royal Highness the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. The event took place today at the International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (I-AQUAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Teluk Kemang.
The programme was an initiative by the Port Dickson District and Land Office, in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Seremban 3, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and SWCorp. The main objective of the event was to instill the values of community service among department heads and to introduce recreational sports as a new tourism product in conjunction with Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 (TMNS2026).
Participants began their kayaking expedition from I-AQUAS UPM Batu 6 to Pantai Cahaya Negeri, proceeded to Pulau Terumbu, and returned to I-AQUAS. The event also included beach cleaning and litter collection activities around the island as a symbol of commitment to environmental conservation.
A total of 13 government departments and agencies participated in the programme, including the Port Dickson Municipal Council, Port Dickson District Police Headquarters, District Health Office, Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), Social Welfare Department (JKM), District Agriculture Office, Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Station, Teluk Kemang Fire and Rescue Station, Marine Department, SAINS, Fisheries Department, and the Information Department.
Also present at the event were YB Dato’ Mohd Faizal Bin Ramli (State Assemblyman for Linggi), YBhg. Pn Nurhazelin Binti Makli (District Officer of Port Dickson), YDH Supt Maslan Bin Udin (District Police Chief of Port Dickson), as well as senior lecturers and representatives from the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation, UiTM.
The programme proceeded smoothly with strict safety supervision provided by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APNM), with no untoward incidents reported. It is hoped that such programmes will continue to serve as a strategic platform for inter-agency collaboration while fostering the spirit of community service and environmental sustainability.
