PORT DICKSON: EHM Global Sdn. Bhd. have visited I-AQUAS on 1 April 2021. Mr. Mohd Johari Ismail (Chief Operating Offcier of EHM Global Sdn. Bhd.) and his colleagues were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zaharin Aris (Director of I-AQUAS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murni Marlina Abd Karim (Head of Sustainable Aquaculture Laboratory), and Dr. Clement De Cruz (Head of Training and Community Services/ Industry Unit). The main purpose of this visit was to discuss on the “Northern Crab Valley Project” and potential collaboration activities between EHM Global Sdn. Bhd. and I-AQUAS. After the discussion, they were taken to tour around the I-AQUAS area including the hatcheries section to provide them with more information on the related research and services available in I-AQUAS.

Following the first visit, both parties had made further discussion via online using the zoom platform on 4 June 2021. The objective of this discussion was to obtain the views of I-AQUAS in regards to the construction of Blue Swimmer Crab Farm in Lukut, Negeri Sembilan. Among other things that have been discussion were: 1) the advancement on the Blue Swimmer Crab industry; 2) consultancy services on the Blue Swimmer Crab project 3) the ability to maintain the effectiveness of crab farming; and 4) potential research grants available.

EHM Global’s mission is to conserve, maintain and create the industry for Blue Swimmer Crab in Malaysia. Whereas, their vision is to be the pioneer in Blue Swimmer Crab farming to fulfil the demand of this species for local and international needs. Also, to provide the needs through education, research, and enterprise.

Towards the end of the discussion, both parties agreed to have further discussion to refine in details on the direction of the research activities that will be carried out.
