Visit of SEARCA Delegation to I-AQUAS, UPM
The Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science (I-AQUAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia, is honored to receive a visit from the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), an organization based in the Philippines that has provided a research grant to Dr. Fikri, Head of the Aquatic Ecosystems and Management Laboratory, I-AQUAS.
The primary focus of this grant is the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in aquaculture, involving:
Automatic water parameter monitoring, and
AI-based autofeeding, which can more accurately calculate the mass of fish.
During the visit, the SEARCA delegation assessed the progress of this research project and also held meetings with local aquaculture farmers. A special seminar for local farmers was delivered by Ms. Darlyn on the benefits and potential of IoT and AI technology in enhancing the efficiency and productivity of aquaculture.
I-AQUAS greatly appreciates SEARCA's support and is confident that this technological innovation can have a significant impact on the development of the aquaculture sector in Malaysia and the region.
