6 September 2023 I-AQUAS, Port Dickson, a study tour programme has been conducted by the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, UPM, involving students from Lishui University, China, consisting of students from the faculty of ecology and medicine. Their visit was to gain knowledge about aquaculture at I-AQUAS.

During their visit, the students were given the opportunity to closely observe various aspects of aquaculture practised at I-AQUAS by UPM staff and students. These included marine coral culturing and Herbarium techniques, crab and shrimp hatcheries, as well as the culture of the seaweed, Caulerpa lentillifera. They were able to see for themselves how the latest technology and practices are used to maintain and increase productivity in the aquaculture sector.

After the tour of the hatchery was over, the students were taken on a boat ride to wander through the beautiful waters of Port Dickson. They were able to enjoy the fascinating scenery while understanding more about the importance of preserving the surrounding nature and marine ecology. Students also released crab seeds in the middle of the sea as one of the activities of the day.

This trip has opened the door to an exchange of knowledge and experience between students from two different countries, bringing positive benefits to both parties.
