On 26th July 2023, a group of students from the International School UCSI Springhill embarked on an educational visit to I-AQUAS, located at UPM Port Dickson Campus. The purpose of this visit was to provide the students with an exposure to aquaculture activities and I-AQUAS, while instilling early awareness of the importance of aquatic resources and their role in ensuring food security and protein supply for the future.
Accompanied by their teachers, students from various levels of the school began their visit with a brief explanation about I-AQUAS and the activities conducted there. They were then taken on a tour of Hatcheri A, B, and C. During the tour, they were introduced to the culture technology used in aquaculture research and presented with best practices in maintaining the health of aquatic biota and ensuring good water quality for the growth and well-being of aquatic animals.
It is hoped that through this exposure, the students will be inspired to pursue research and careers in the aquaculture industry, contributing to the development and progress of the country. At the end of the visit, the students are expected to bring back the valuable knowledge and experiences to their classrooms, share with their peers, and apply their newfound knowledge in the field of aquaculture for a better future.
