PORT DICKSON, December 9 - The International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science (I-AQUAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) received a courtesy visit from the management experts of Universiti Guangxi Vocational of Agriculture (GVUA), China today. The visit was led by Puan Gao Chong Min, Vice President of GVUA, who was accompanied by several GVUA officials and researchers. They were welcomed by Dr. Nur Leena Wong Wai Sin, along with several I-AQUAS staff. The visit began with a brief explanation by Dr. Nur Leena Wong Wai Sin about the background, vision, mission, objectives and activities of I-AQUAS. She also introduced some of the areas of research and development run by I-AQUAS, such as breeding, conservation, management, food, disease, water quality, biosecurity and marine ecology. Seterus, the visiting group was taken to the I-AQUAS hatchery to see the hatchery and culture activities of renjong mackerel run by I-AQUAS. They were briefed on the process of hatching, culturing, transferring, releasing and monitoring renjong turtles by the I-AQUAS staff. The visit was closed with the activity of releasing ketam renjong seeds to their original habitat at Teluk Kemang Beach, which is one of the locations of the ketam renjong release program run by I-AQUAS in collaboration with Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia.
