Aquaculture Engineering (AquaLab)

Kejuruteraan Akuakultur

Aquaculture engineering is an area that incorporates the principles of engineering in aquaculture especially in the design of aquaculture production systems. In this area, the efficiency of a design such as RAS (recycling aquaculture system), multitrophic culture systems, photobioareactors and others are treated as a priority. Hydraulic and hydrological features involved in the process of obtaining water resources and movement of water for aquaculture activities are also important. Design of water treatment systems and automation in aquaculture to increase productivity efficiency has also been given the attention. In dealing with inconsistent water supply situations in some areas, this field is crucial to ensuring adequate water supply in terms of quantity and quality.

Other than that, IoT technology is also essential to monitor the efficiency of aquaculture production systems. With the additional ability to monitor fish behaviour using image processing and sonic technology, this field can improve the quality and quantity of fish production.
